Report Card and Grading Procedure

Kindergarten Grading Procedure

Students in Kindergarten do not receive letter grades on their report cards.

Kindergarten students receive the following for effort, work habits, and conduct:

1 - Emerging - Student needs more time and practice with this skill/concept
2 - Progressing - Student is progressing and developing this skill/concept 
3 - Consistent - Student consistently performs/understands this skill/concept
X - Is not being assessed at this time

Elementary School Grading Procedure

Students in grades 1st through 5th will receive a letter grade on their report card for each subject area (i.e. Reading, Spelling, Math, etc.) that is being assessed. This letter grade represents the student's overall performance for that specific marking period.

Health and SEL are Pass/Fail classes.

Grading Scale:
  • 100-90 A
  • 89-80 B
  • 79-70 C
  • 69-65 D
  • 64-0 F

Students will receive a numerical indicator for performance in skill areas and for behavior:
4 - Exceeds Expectations
3 - Meets Expectations
2 - Approaches Expectations
1 - Partially Meets Expectations
0 - Does Not Meet Expectations
X - Not Applicable At This Time

Middle School Grading Procedure

Students in grades 6th through 8th will receive a letter grade on their report card for each subject area (i.e. Reading, Math, Science etc.) that is being assessed. This letter grade represents the student's overall performance for that specific marking period.

Health and SEL are Pass/Fail classes.

Grading Scale:
  • 97-100 = A+
  • 93-96 = A
  • 90-92 = A-
  • 87-89 = B+
  • 83-86 = B
  • 80-82 = B-
  • 77-79 = C+
  • 73-76 = C
  • 70-72 = C-
  • 69-65 = D
  • 64-0 = F
  • Not Applicable At This Time = X

Report Cards and Honor Roll

Report Cards
Report Cards are distributed four times throughout the year at the end of each marking period. EPCS no longer prints paper report cards. Parents can look up students' report cards on OnCourse Connect. Paper report cards are available upon request. Parents can also keep track of students' grades throughout the marking period by logging into OnCourse Connect. https://www.oncourseconnect.com/login

Honor Roll

All class grades are reviewed in order for a student to qualify for Honor Roll. Honor Roll Assemblies are held at the end of each marking period to celebrate students for achieving academic excellence. Students receive a certificate and are called on stage to be applauded by their peers.

There are two Honor Roll categories:
High Honors - All A's
Honor Roll - All A's and B's
