As a school social worker and a member of the child study team, I support students in their academic and emotional development. I work with educators and specialists to create and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, addressing their unique challenges. My duties include providing counseling, crisis intervention, and acting as a liaison between the school, students, and families. I also connect families with community resources and build partnerships with local organizations to enhance coordinated care. My goal is to create a nurturing school environment where all students can thrive academically and personally. School social workers play a critical role in bridging the gap between home, school, and the community to support students' overall well-being and academic success. They address a wide range of issues that can impact students' ability to learn and thrive in a school environment.
