EPCS Curriculum

EPCS uses a child-centered classroom approach to learning. The EPCS curriculum allows each student to obtain a strong foundation. Our structured classes and an extensive advisory system allow us to offer individual attention to each student as they master a rigorous program. EPCS is committed to educating the whole person, to fostering a deep love of learning, and to preparing our students to contribute to a changing and challenging world.

EPCS follows the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) and uses standards-aligned instructional materials across all grade levels. Our curriculum is designed to provide students with appropriately challenging learning experience while allowing teachers to differentiate instruction based on students' individual needs.

Our ELA program develops students' reading, writing, speaking, listening, language, vocabulary, and critical-thinking skills through a variety of literary and informational texts.

Mathematics instruction focuses on conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, problem solving, mathematical reasoning, and the ability to apply mathematics to real-world situations.

Science instruction is aligned to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards for Science and emphasizes scientific and engineering practices, investigation, problem solving, and making sense of scientific phenomena.
